TN vs [M] - 7/22/99 - TFCL Championship - 32smooth Result: [M] Wins 5-5 (Flags > Frags; 981-887) [ Basenji's (Spec) Demo | TN|Arc's Demo | TN|Trinity's Demo | TN|Zero0's Demo ] Studs of the Game: Tarrant[M], TN|Arc Stud Analysis: Tarrant[M]: Certainly all of [M] played magnificently, but [M] simply would not have won without Tarrant piping. When TN touches 111 times and only caps 5 of them, there is no doubt about the quality of the piper, especially on 32smooth. Also of course, 89% efficiency (117 frags, 14 deaths) is MVP worthy. TN|Arc: Burns defenders with his 300 ping; a legendary figure in 32smooth history. Top TN capper with 2 of the 5, but had a legitimate chance at 2 others defended in the TN tower by [M], plus a sure relay ready at the end that might have won this game. Showed off incredible moves, possibly the greatest play of the 2nd half with a flag grab by jumping off catwalks and grabbing it while atop the rook, giving no chance for Tarrant's pipes to blast him, thus setting up a later cap. Many other TN's can be considered, especially the game's top toucher Penny, and TN piper Spoo. Both forward defenders on these teams deserve more credit than they are being noted for. Key Stats: Tarrant[M] = 117 frags, 14 deaths (flag piper) TN|Arc = 30 touches, 2 caps lanfear[M] = 8 touches, 3 caps Hellsent[M] = 24 touches, 2 caps TN|Penny = 32 touches, 1 cap TN|Spoo = 58 frags, 11 deaths (flag piper) TN out-touched [M] 111-41 Noteworthy Events & Tricks, 1st Half: (Best Viewing: Basenji's Demo) TN Wins 2-1 Scout No-Stop Tower Leaps Sweeper's Spy Gren Jump to Catwalks Sweeper's Backstab of Tarrant at Lava Zephyr's Jim Marshall Impression With Flag Quad Scout Sweeper Running Flag to RR NeVeck's Sentry Placement in RR Arc's Flag Touch When Nearly Returning Sweeper's Knife-Murder of Tarrant Penny's Move to Front Door Arc's Backwards Run Out Door and Cap Tarrant Holding Flag Through Amazing Ferocity Hellsent's Unbelievable Soldier Flag Run Lanfear's Cap TN Sentry Placement on Lava Fence TN Flag Run to RR Zephyr/Penny/Arc Flag Movements Hiro's Cap with Arc's Assistance Soldiers' Flag Saving For [M] After Tarrant Dropped Fox Performing Outstanding as Backup Demo 1st Half Commentary: Possibly one of the best 32smooth games from a defensive perspective, with the map's 2 top offenses of the time combining for only 3 caps on the top defenses. The TN Offense penetrated incredibly well into the flag room, often knocking the sentry out. Tarrant and Fox were the dynamic duo at the flag however, making save after save. On the other side, the TN D was remarkably well prepared, neutralizing Prez-Fu's spying adequately. Hellsent and Lanfear however did combine for incredibly impressive numbers through the stiff competition. Hellsent without a doubt made the play of the half, with an opportune flag grab with a rocket jump all the way to the stairway, through the RR. Lanfear brought it home for the 1-1 tie until Hiro's late cap. Both clans playing their absolute stud lineups, both playing with incredible poise for the one and only TFCL Championship. The [M] Defense was nearly immovable as a result of Tarrant's boggling piping, definately the key to the victory. All 20 warriors played the full 60 minutes to their greatest abilities, as shown by the final score of 5-5. TN was the hotter Offense, but [M] was the hotter Defense. There are 2 actions that stand out as reasons for TN's loss of the title because of frags. First would be TN|Spoo's inaccurate piping of the Lava stairway, allowing the scout to be only wounded while dashing out with the flag. Tarrant[M] demonstrates the correct way by throwing the pipes through the small holes of the railing. The other less obvious mistake is TN|Sweeper's missed conc jump to the tower for the last TN cap. TN|Arc was money for a relay cap, but as a result of Sweeper's miss the cap was delayed terribly by [M]'s brilliant last stand at the TN tower.
