My History
As told by [EHA]Perceptor

Non-Quakeworld DM is where I was exposed to Quake.  During the summer of 1997, I would venture on to this new and crazy world of on-line playing, enjoying it very much.  I managed to find myself a copy of the game, and began playing more and more.  Almost as if it were some unspoken rule of evolution, I went from Non-QW DM to QW DM to QW CTF.  Finally, in August of '97 I stumbled upon Team Fortress; the classes and such were appealing to me.  After about 2 weeks of playing, I had learned some simple things like +gren1 and +gren2 made something pop out of you, medics healed you, and snipers should burn in hell.  One day as I was playing on a public server, a person by the name of Neuro-Toxin asked me to join the clan known as BS, Boy Scouts (DO NOT laugh).  I accepted the offer, and for a short while i was known as BS|BeelZebub.  BS had a t1 server (which was a lot for a new clan), and were eager to get more people.  While in BS, I met a person by the name of Quest.  We had became fairly good friends over the short time we were together.  Then suddenly BS disbanded because the leader, Doc Holiday (server admin) decided to give up on the clan.  I remained in contact with Quest during October and November, and during the middle of November, we decided to start our own clan. We called it BAM, Bad Ass MammaJammas, being a catch phrase at the time.  After a week or two, we realized that a clan is basically impossible to run without a server to back it up.  So BAM dissolved although it wasn't much of a loss since Quest and I were the only members.

December struck, and my quake career was put on hold for 7 weeks.  While at a wrestling practice, my elbow was broken and as hard as I tried I could not play TF with a caste on.  Diablo had entered my multiplayer world as it did not require the use of both hands.  However, Diablo was plagued with rampant cheating, and not much replay value.  Once my caste was off (Jan 13th '98) I returned to the quake scene.  I began to talk to Quest again, and apparently he had obtained a cable modem and was able to put up a server (though I did not realize at the that cable modem servers suck).  Once again, Quest and I began to start another clan. Influenced by the band Tool, I named the clan ]Tool[.  ]Tool[ started and ended at three members strong.  Quest, my friend from my home town Cyrofire, and myself made up the roster for Tool.  The clan disbanded after two weeks because: a) the server sucked, sorry Quest.  b) Quest was in PST and I was in EST, making it hard to perform any nightly TF functions such as practices.  So, much like BAM, ]Tool[ died out, and I decided to never lead a clan again.

I needed a home.  By chance I came into contact with the leader of TSR (The Shadow Runners), Hawke, and he offered me a spot in his clan. Within a week I had dropped out, I then learned of the term "clan slut".  I came to the revelation that if I were to enjoy a clan experience I would have to remain in a clan for more than three weeks.  Now, at this point in time (around March '98), Cryofire, my real life friend, had socialized with Linksys.  Linksys was the leader of a former clan by the name of SaD (Seek and Destroy), and when I met him, he was a part of [EHA] (Evil Hurricane Angels). Cryofire had decided that he would tryout for EHA, and he pushed me into doing so as well.  So we both tried out, as offensive soldiers, and were accepted.  EHA had a server, fun players, and lots of matches.  During the spring on '98 EHA began to grow and grow, and even though our record was not the greatest, we would play so many matches that no one would care.

I was known as [EHA]BeelZebub at this time.  I had found out that several people had shared the same name, and I was getting frustrated. After having encountered four Beelzebubs' in two weeks, I decided to try and stop the outbreak.  One my fifth encounter of a Beelzebub, I challenged this person to a name duel.  So [EHA]BeelZebub (me) and [FA]Beelzebub squared off, and after a soldier duel, victory was his.  Lost was my name, and lost was my want to play soldier.

So I shedded skin.  I decided to change my nick to [EHA]Perceptor, and I quickly found an interest in playing engineer.  During the summer EHA had a few problems, but we held together and those EHA that had remained during our little crisis time be came better friends.  In August of '98, I ventured down to Toronto to watch Aftershock and met several people who I have played with for a fairly long time.  Since August to this date, my clan-life has been constant.  I still reside in EHA; I still play on a 33.6 connection; I still play engineer; I still have the name Perceptor. Other useless information: I am 18, and I like Tool.

Just to end this little story, I will give a few shout outs to fellow TF players that I have respect for:  All of EHA past and present except for Roadkill (of course), Cryofire, Redhera, Dogsoldier, Concoxin/Justice, Necromancer/Haven, Lethe, BeelZebub, and the old BS boys, and everyone else that I forgot.
