History of Coupe-De-Grace
As told by BattleDragon[CdG]

CdG's History basically came in 3 parts. There were 3 leaders of CdG, Ityllux, Battle Dragon, and Barker. Barker is the current leader and the first 2 leaders are not in the clan anymore.

Coupe-De-Grace started on Jan, 1, 1998. It started out with 12 members. Ityllux, Battle Dragon, Terror, Purple Bruise, RoadKill, JustineTime, Krunch, Rookie, KrazyHorz, JamsBonBon, Mb4284, and Pure_evil. CdG's first 3 months were relatively quiet. We played [THO] and lsiot our first scrimmage. We then played the Lords of Mega TF, Clan Kevorkian. We got our ass beat 736-37 (or something close to that), we were 0-2 in scrimmages and played our first match later that week against CoD, we beat them and got our first win. MD's O leader Prophet (later GI-RipCord) then quit and helped us so that we could beat MD in our match in early april. We went 3-0 after the MD scrim, beating CoD 2x's and clan Wizard.

We then faced our hardest match so far. Clan Kevorkian vs Clan Coupe-De-Grace. The 2 best Mega TF clans squared off on a lag-filled but intense round. (The write-up for the game can be found at http://barkerjr.m8.com and go to battles history, or at http://www.antrononline.com/quake then go to morge). This match was 2 months of training. The first round ended up with MD up by 11 frags, 0-0 in caps. The second round was on our east coast server. Pings were better for us but worse for them. We came out and got flag to bottom of spiral, but the HWGuy (now [DH]Redrum) mowed down our whole offense with his overpowered Mega TF assault cannon. The flag stayed safe and we played a frag game.

With CdG not having a sniper we were at a disadvantage. CdG was up by 6 frags with 10 minutes left, when Dreammaster[MD] went on a killing spree and got 20 frags in less than 5 minutes. This put MD up by 7 frags at end of game. Total was 240-258, MD won. The best Mega TF clan was proved from this. CdG then went and entered League Crazyed and IGL and did away with Mega TF. In the 3 months CdG was in IGL they went 3-6, and lost plenty of members. By this time ITyllux had given leadership to Battle Dragon and went home for the summer. The summer was a hard one and a trying one on CdG. We suffered our worst losses and probably some of the worst losses in TF history and played some of best games. In IGL CdG played TsB on Canalzone, and to this day I have never played a better match. We then went on to play clans like DD, NcNj, DN, GoW, and everyone but WM and MC in the east division. IN early July CdG dropped from IGL cause of too busy a schedule and real life issues.

CdG was also in League Crazyed. We met a clan named MK that we would befriend for a long time. We went 5-2 in that league until the fateful day when it was CdG vs -IC-. A merge between MK and CdG had failed a week earlier and we were not ready of what to expect of this top notch clan. It was a slaughter. Anfernee racked up over 200 frags in round 1 alone, and -IC- capped 32-0 against CdG. Then round 2 went to well where -IC-'s CrimsonDawn and Anfernee owned the map. 20-0 in frags. 52-0, now if that isn't the worst lost ever I don't know what was, frags were 6200-200. A week later we had to play BrB for LC. and I consulted Langolier on some strats against them since -IC- played them a couple days before. We went on server and we lagged, almost everyone was HPB, and though we sucked BrB had their snipers owning and their soldiers breaking through our pathetic all D tactic.

Round 2, there was many a things said that we took offense to. These things led to CdG's resignation of LC. Score was 22-1 in favor of BrB. CdG had some bad things said, but had proof about the incidents, but Battle Dragon publicly apologized to BrB in their channel about the incident.

CdG's next league was the swamp thing invitational. This league plain OWNED. It was nothing but fun, and though swamp3 is a good map, swamp1 is great for small clans. We went 4-0 even beating the league founders >X<. Until we played >V<, we knew this game would be tough, but we had practiced our game soo much we thought we could win. >V< came out in round 1 with impressive O and capped 3x. In round 2 CdG and >V< changed strats, and the score was 1-1, 4-1 in favor of >V<, This was the best game we had ever played against a top notch clan. We then went on to be inched out of the playoffs, by loosing to DoW, and MP, and then >X< tying MP in final match to put >X< up by 1 point. Though DoW and MP games were fun it would've been better, but both games it was either 5on8 or 6on8.

After this league was over CdG went into 3 weeks of straight scrimmages. From clans like [VII] to -IC-, CdG played hard and went 5-5. We played -IC- 7-2 in a scrim, played MP, .M, HT [VII], >X<, and many other clans. But in almost every scrimmage except the -IC- one, we were short 1-3 people. This caused dissension in the clan and BD, terror, Sof, Shadow, and a few others left to create AvA. This clan didn't last long cause RL interfered and no one could show up.

This starts the reign of Barker as CdG's leader, He was left with nothing, and with only 7 or 8 people left. He went on a recruiting spree, and allied himself with RN which then turned into a merge. When the college boys came back I decided to give CdG another try. That same night they all left so I gave up on them. CdG then went on and is now competing in DW4 and just recently won 2-0. Though Barker was left with nothing after the split, he brought the clan back and it has stayed alive. Congrats go to him and I hope he plans on doing something for the 1 year anniversary party on Jan 1 1999.

That is the history of CdG. It is a bit vague but if I wrote every little bit I would take a few hours and it would be many pages. The last little part is inaccurate, since I couldn't get much info on the clan after I left. Hope this can help you, but we basically were the Best Mega TF clan, and then went into Reg TF and was always thought to not be able to handle it. We played the best and lost but we lost in good spirit, we learned from our losses and we came back and we showed that winning is not the reason that tf should be played.
